Prints, Prints, Prints...

I think this could possibly be my favourite trend of Spring/Summer 11 so far. I am always excited when I see prints incorporated into seasonal lines, mainly because it's a trend that is drastically different each time a designer interprets it.

So many great, diverse print collections this season, it's extremely hard to chose one favourite. Alexander McQueen once again never fails to impress us with his archaic and 'passé' take on the trend. The majority of the clothes having a high neck collar and exquisite, draping fabric down to the catwalk floor. McQueen's fabric, as strange as it sounds, reminds me of a cross between vintage paisley and snake skin - however, the outcome is stunning nonetheless. The models of the show resembled pagan like qualities, with their barely-there make up and mother earth plaited hair styles.

The next designer on my fashion hit-list, is Missoni. Honestly, WOW. This line truly is an explosion of colour and texture. The 'safari-eske' feel to the show was more than noticeable with the bold, clean cut lines and bright infusions of block colour. The make-up was kept fresh and simple, with a sweep of bronzer across the cheek bones to give that summer sunkissed feel, not taking any attention away from the clothes (not that that would be possible). Zig-zags and diamond shapes galore! Bravo Missoni.

Last, but by no means least, is Cacharel. This collection was an absolute breath of fresh air, with the use of water colour prints that look effortlessly beautiful on each model. Some of the clothes had a tie-dye feel to them, but not in an over exaggerated way. The tone of the show seemed to be orange, with the frequent use of the vibrant shade on each garment and the lighting on the catwalk. Very simplistic, but very effective.
